If you are a Monty Python fan you will recognize that phrase from one or more of their comedic skits. It has become a bit of a mantra with me since March although generally under my breath! There are a handful of brilliant people around the world who could see a pandemic coming but I was definitely not one of them.
There have been countless times in the last nine months when I have looked around in anger and amazement and wanted to hold someone accountable for the devastation. The toll on individuals, families and businesses will not be reconciled for a long time and for some life is changed forever.
The retooling of some industries, the tremendous efforts being made by the hospitality industry to stay viable have been nothing short of miraculous. And how about the scientific community who devoted themselves to developing vaccines to literally save the world. There are reasons to be hopeful and that is where I live.
We are going to rebuild the economy and life will go on but we won’t and shouldn’t take anything fore granted in the future.
